The Katschberg – a winter fairy tale. Magical landscape, idyllic valleys and viewpoints are waiting to be explored with sports equipment or on foot.
Toboggan fun for all
On Katschberg you can toboggan by day as well as by night. The toboggan run is 1.5 km long and leads from the Gamskogelhütte to the Stamperl and the ascent takes about 40 minutes. After warming up, toboggans (for a fee) are at your disposal to take you back down the mountain. Do not hesitate to ask us about the night toboggan times during your stay.
Winter hikes
Hike through the snow-covered landscape on 30 km of winter hiking trails, with different degrees of difficulty, to reach idyllic valleys like Pöllatal or panoramic viewpoints like Aineck.
Advent Highlight – the Katschberg Advent trail: high up in the mountains, means untouched nature, you can expect Advent magic far away from kitsch & commerce – the Katschberg Advent trail. A 6.8 km hiking loop at 1,750 meters above sea level in the snow-covered Gontal. Lovingly restored hay barns take you into a very special Advent world. You will be enchanted.
Snowshoe hiking on Katschberg
Every week you can take part in snowshoe hikes on Katschberg. We are happy to organise snowshoeing tours for you so you can discover the secret places in Gontal.
Ski tours through the mountains and valleys
More and more people are attracted by the snow-covered mountains away from the slopes. There are wonderful ski touring routes around the Katschberg, such as to the Tschaneck or, for real mountain fans, further to the Kareck at 2,481 m! The mountain railways in the Lungau holiday region also offer floodlit evening ski tours.
The Nockberge Trail is a special tour experience. It begins directly on the Katschberghöhe and leads on four daily stages to Bad Kleinkirchheim.
Horse-drawn sleigh rides through the snow-covered landscape
Do not miss this romantic experience. Noriker horses comfortably pull the horse-drawn carriages from Katschberg to the Pritzhütte in the Gontal. Wrapped in warm blankets, the lovely and solid horses trot through the unique winter landscape.
Many vow to love has been shared on such a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride. When you arrive at the Pritzhütte, warm drinks, regional delicacies and a cozy alpine lounge await you.
