Hiking tips
Our hiking recommendations for your first vacation on Katschberg, Austria:
- Moderate hike to the Kareck with beautiful views: 2,481 meters to the summit (hiking time: 5 hours across meadows with grazing animals; perfect for experienced hikers)
- Easy hike to the Kochlöffelhütte through the Pöllatal valley (2-hour hike, family-friendly, not suitable for strollers)
- Easy hike to the Branntweiner Alm on the Aineck (2-hour hike, family-friendly with no steep inclines)
- Easy hike to the Aineck via the Teuerlnock to the Bonnerhütte (walking time 4 hours)
- Easy hike over the Gamskogel into the Gontal Nature Reserve (walking time 3 hours, family-friendly, possible with a stroller along the Herzerlweg to the Gamskoglhütte)

Hiking Gear at the 4*S Hotel Das KATSCHBERG
You’re welcome to rent special hiking gear from us at the hotel - we have the following available for you: backpacks, water bottles, hiking poles, and child carriers. Now you’re ready to start your hike!
The hotel’s own hiking taxi will take you to your starting point and pick you up again there! So you don’t have to worry about how to get there and back, who “has to” drive, or where to park the car. Just let us know - we’re always here for you.
Back at the hotel, our chefs will provide the perfect afternoon snack for exhausted summit conquerors.

Right on the Katschberg. From the hotel there are several hiking routes from easy to moderately difficult.
What I really liked was that there were always one or two open huts with rustic hosts on all hiking
routes (except for the straight hike to the Kareck).

Blumen sind ein ganz besonderer Blickfang für den ganzen Ort.
